1970s

Now including a second generation of leadership, Louis Capano & Sons expands to include commercial real estate as they develop several multifamily communities -- Drummond Hill, Greenfield Manor, and Cavalier Country Club Apartments. Neighborhood and regional shopping centers are added to the portfolio and Capano Management Company is formed to oversee the day-to-day operations of the commercial division.

The company rounds out its commercial portfolio to include office buildings by developing Brandywine Plaza and Foulk Road Office Park Plaza. The company also purchases and continues to operate two landmark businesses -- the Henlopen Hotel in Rehoboth Beach and the Charcoal Pit hamburger franchise, a beloved Delaware tradition.

1990s

The portfolio continues to grow in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate, and the company develops its flagship retail properties -- Concord Square Shopping Center and Center Pointe Plaza. The landmark John Wanamaker Department Store on Augustine Cut-off is purchased and retrofitted for a premier single-use tenant, significantly expanding the office space component by an additional 200,000 square feet.

After half a century of success, the company proudly enters into a third generation of leadership. Notable development projects include Center Pointe Plaza II Shopping Center, Sea Coast Shopping Center in Rehoboth Beach and The Reserve At Beck’s Pond, a trendsetting upscale 240 unit multifamily community in Newark, DE.

2010s

The company’s diverse portfolio now encompasses 11 rental communities, 18 retail centers, 5 office complexes and 2 construction divisions that build unique homes from North Wilmington to the shores of Rehoboth Beach.
