What began as a custom home building company started by Louis J. Capano, Sr. in 1947 has grown, more than 55 years later, into a multi-faceted construction, development and management powerhouse in the state of Delaware. Now in its third generation, Louis Capano & Sons has expanded its construction business to include retail shopping centers, office buildings and residential apartment and townhome communities, as well as the quality home building business that put the company on the map.

In the early 1970ís, Louis J. Capano, Jr., who is now president of Louis Capano & Sons, together with his brother Joseph, began construction on the 744-unit Cavalier Country Club Apartments. He formed the property management company, Capano Management Company, to oversee the day-to-day operations of Cavalier and embarked on a course to diversify and expand the companyís holdings. Branmar Plaza was acquired in 1975, followed by Midway Plaza and Meadowood Shopping Center. In the early 1980ís Brandywine Plaza and Foulk Road Office Park Plaza were developed, rounding out the company portfolio to include office buildings.

Today, the Capano Entities include more than 2400 apartments and townhomes, 1.7 million square feet of retail space, and 500,000 square feet of office space. In addition, the company now owns and operates the 93-room Henlopen Hotel in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a 32-lane bowling center, and a 7,500 square foot retail liquor store. In the mid-1980ís, Louis purchased the popular Charcoal Pit Restaurant in Wilmington, which he has expanded to four locations. The Capano Management Team of professional asset managers, with over 100 employees servicing this diverse real estate portfolio, prides itself in its attention to detail and its commitment to quality and customer service.
