Flowers are starting to bloom, the color green is becoming more prominent and the pollen count seems to just keep ticking up. All of this can only mean one thing … it’s time to tackle the daunting task of spring cleaning.
With all of this extra time around the house, now is the perfect time to dive into what some may call the most rewarding cleaning event of the year. In this month’s blog post, we break down your spring cleaning list tips!
From Top to Bottom:
When’s the last time you cleaned your ceiling fan blades? If you’re still contemplating this question, it’s time to clean your ceiling fan. Take an old sheet, lay it down over your bed or whichever surface that is underneath said ceiling fan, use a wet cloth to slowly wipe away dust on each blade – working from the innermost part towards the outside. As you wipe, dust will fall off onto your sheet. Once you complete your fan you can simply shake the excess dust off outside and throw the dirty sheet into the washing machine. It’s safe to say that fan is going to be circulating air more efficiently now.
As you work through the rest of your living space consider dusting for your first step, vacuuming the last, and every other cleaning detail somewhere in the middle.
Declutter & Donate:
Since we’re already making a sweep of the entire house, let’s not skip out on the closet! Make some room, spare a few hangers, and take some time to donate clothes that no longer serve a purpose in your life. A great rule of thumb when looking at an item in your closet is to ask yourself if you’ve worn it in the last year. Was your answer no? Toss that bad boy into the giveaway pile. The reality is, if you haven’t worn something for about a year then the odds of you wearing it are slim to none.
Spruce Up Indoor Plants:
Our indoor plants work hard for us on a daily basis; cleaning our air, brightening our living spaces. It’s only right that we show them the same level of care. Consider re-planting your plants with new potting soil and fertilizer so the nutrients are bountiful and they continue to grow even when spring transitions to summer. To wrap up your plant cleaning, take a damp cloth and gently wipe away any dirt and dust from its leaves. This method will allow sunlight to better penetrate its leaves and keep it healthy and happy.
